THIS POINT OF VIEW GALLERY TALK IS CANCELED.

Join us for Point of View Gallery talks every second Friday of the month at noon. September's POV Gallery Talk will be with Cassandra Langer. Langer will discuss the exhibition, The Art of Romaine Brooks

Art historian and critic Cassandra Langer became the accidental biographer of expatriate feminist painter, Romaine Brooks (1874-1970) when a search to uncover the artist’s aesthetics led Langer to rethink the flawed narrative of Brooks’ life.

An award-winning author and former Smithsonian post-doctoral fellow, Langer is best known for her books, Mother and Child in Art, What’s Right with Feminism, A Bibliography of Feminist Art Criticism, Feminist Art Criticism, and A Life: Romaine Brooks. Her articles and reviews have appeared in numerous publications including Art in America, College Art Journal, Arts Magazine, Art Criticism, Women's Art Journal, Art Papers, MS. Magazine, New York Newsday, and Women's Review of Books.

Dr. Langer received her BA and MA in art history from the University of Miami and her Ph.D. in art history and criticism from New York University.
