The Art of Film presents a forum for appreciating movies as an art form. With audience Q&A and talkback sessions with film directors and faculty from Florida Southern College following each screening, this unique Polk Museum series will entertain, engage, and educate audiences of all ages.
Claire in Motion
Synopsis: Claire is sure of herself, her work and family, until - like a bad dream - her husband disappears, leaving a trail of puzzling secrets that shatter her certainty.

Filmmaker Annie Howell will be in attendance.
In addition to co-directing two feature films, Howell wrote the screenplay for LITTLE BOXES, (directed by Rob Meyer and starring Melanie Lynskey and Nelsan Ellis) which premiered in 2016 at the Tribeca Film Festival, where it sold to Netflix. That script is the recipient of an IFP Emerging Narrative Award for Best Feature and a San Francisco Film Society/Kenneth Rainin Foundation grant. Howell is an alumna of Whitman College, NYU's Graduate Film program, the Screenwriters Colony, and IFP’s Emerging Narrative. She teaches in the MFA in Film program at City College, and has also been a member of the faculty at Duke University’s Center for Documentary Studies, Ohio University’s MFA in Film, and at The New School, where she was the Founding Director of the Graduate Certificate in Documentary Media Studies Program. She lives in New York with her husband and two sons.
Howell and Robinson have each directed other short work, including TIA AND MARCO and HOLLOW respectively for the vanguard ITVS series FutureStates. Robinson’s awards include Martin E. Segal Prize, the Mitsubishi Award for Excellence, and a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship. Howell’s awards include a Screenwriters' Colony fellowship, an IFP Grand Prize for an original script, and a 2010 San Francisco Film Society/Kenneth Rainin Foundation grant. Robinson has original screenwriting credits with the renowned Blue Man Group; Howell wrote the screenplay for LITTLE BOXES that is premiering this spring. They both live in New York City with their families.
